Oral Peace Project
The Oral Peace Project is a bio-social venture that utilizes “Bacteriocin,” a natural antimicrobial peptide derived from lactobacillus, developed through industry-university collaboration with Kyushu University. Combining Japanese biotechnology with advanced research, the project offers environmentally friendly oral care solutions designed to improve the oral health of people of all ages.
By reducing the risks of caries, periodontal disease, oral infections, and aspiration pneumonia, the initiative aims to extend healthy life expectancy and lower nursing care costs, which exceed 9 trillion yen annually in Japan. In addition to promoting health, the project addresses social challenges by creating job opportunities for individuals with disabilities and low-income groups. With support from researchers, clinicians, and government partners, the Oral Peace Project seeks to expand its impact from Japan to the global stage.
