Shin Kogei

Based in Hida-Takayama, Gifu prefecture, Shin Kogei specializes in woodblock prints of local animals. Using regionally sourced wood, they meticulously carve designs inspired by Hida-Takayama’s native fauna onto blocks. Each color in their prints, whether depicting baby animals, birds, or fish, is applied using a separate block, highlighting the intricate craftsmanship involved. Hand-dyed onto natural cotton and sewn by hand, their creations exude a rustic charm rooted in tradition.
